Kilgore Bulldogs Against Drugs (KBAD) is the Kilgore Independent School District and the Kilgore Police Department working together to give students incentives and extra encouragement to stay away from toxic substances like drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. KBAD is a program that offers exclusive discounts and opportunities in exchange for voluntary random drug testing.
It is encouraged by Sergeant Josh Vercher to join KBAD for commitment to staying free of those toxic substances.
“KBAD is a pledge to stay drug, alcohol, and nicotine free,” Vercher said. “If our kids can keep this simple commitment then they can do anything.”
K9 School Resource Officer Tony Forbes is one of the officers who give out free lunches for members. The incentives that KBAD members get are to reward them for being drug and nicotine free.
“SROs do KBAD lunches where we provide free lunch to all KBAD members, Forbes said. “And we take our board members on trips to conferences at different times of the year.”
The purpose of KBAD is not just to encourage youth to be free from illegal substances, but to also give them support to help them stay free from those substances. KBAD doesn’t require any time commitments besides the random drug testing.
“As a Bulldog we set the standards on drug prevention,” Vercher said.
