Animation teacher Benjamin Wood instructs seniors Bucky Duke and Michael French on how to use the motion suits.

Kilgore media acquired an upgrade for their animation classes after they received a $4,270 grant.

“I am really happy we got the new suits because they are really technologically advanced,” senior Kyle Kaczmarek said.

The new suits have reduced the amount of wires due to the advanced technology and there are certain points contained in the suit to monitor the body’s movements. This helps with cutting the time it takes to program the action.

These suits allow us to reduce the time in which it takes to animate the human form in motion. They also allow us to have a level of accuracy that would be very difficult and time intensive to recreate using traditional methods,” Benjamin Wood said.

In the past, Kilgore animation has gone to competition, these new motion capture suits will help with winning first place.

“Assuredly, yes. It will reduce the number of hours we will have to dedicate to animations so we can use that time to focus on other parts of our game. It will also give our games a more professional look and style,” Wood said.

The motion capture suits will also put the animation and game design students at college level when they animate the human body.

These suits will give us the ability to match and in some situations surpass the exception of college entry for Animation and Game Design field,” Wood said.
