Last week, our Academic UIL students headed to Pine Tree High School to compete on the district level, and many came back with medals and qualifications to continue on to the region.
There are three different levels to Academic UIL: district, region and state. If you place well enough in the district level, you move on to region, and if you place well enough in region, you move on to state. It is an exciting process that gives students the opportunity to flourish and grow in whatever subject they may choose.
The following list includes the accomplishments of our Bulldogs in this year’s official district meet:

Second place team including: Breleigh Warlick, Jaden Parsons, Syghlas Morales, James Jarman, Hayden Rowe and Shelby Rosson (Region qualifying!)
On the district level, every first place team automatically moves on to the next level, but for second place teams, there is only a chance at doing so. The second place team in the region with the most points out of all the second place teams moves on. This is called a “wildcard”, and it’s a huge deal when a team gets to be the wildcard. Luckily, our literary criticism team beat the odds and had the most points out of all the second place teams, so they will be going to region!
We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for those who came to compete, no matter what results they got in their events. Every student who took time out of their day to compete made a difference.
Congratulations to those who placed and those who moved on to region! Keep up the great work, Bulldogs!
