The Annual Health Science Fair
Categories:

The annual Health Science Fair was held on Jan 27. in the cafeteria. There were several booths featuring topics such as Stop the Bleed, One Pill Kills, and head injuries.

“The Health Fair is designed to educate our community with life-saving skills and information while also giving students the opportunity to develop their communication skills and network with others,” Health Science teacher Cheyenne Kirkpatrick said. “The Health Fair is successful because it provides great information, involves a lot of hard work, and is driven by a passion for helping others.”

The Health Science Club is the sponsor for the SkillsUSA team.  They compete in career-related events such as Basic Health Care, Nurse Assisting, First Aid & CPR, Health Knowledge Bowl, Health Occupations Professional Portfolio, Medical Terminology and Job Skill Demonstration. Leadership events include Community Service, American Spirit, Job Interview, Promotional Bulletin Board and Extemporaneous Speaking.

“I do Community Service, Nurse Assisting, and Health Knowledge Bowl,” senior Lincoln Rounsavall said. “My favorite part about doing SkillsUSA is advocating for CTE. My most memorable thing about doing Skills has been going to Washington D.C. to advocate for schools and CTE. I also got to talk to Texas Senator Ted Cruz.”

The SkillsUSA Health Science Team will be competing at District starting on Feb 18. in Waco.
