Joining FHLA!!

Categories:

Future Hispanic Leaders of America is a program that has been offered to join since the early 2000’s at KHS. FHLA does not discriminate by race or gender, and joining this club can expand your horizons by so much, joining not only sets you up for the future but also shows you things that you may not have known were ever possible for you to achieve in and outside of high school.

For the upcoming school year, Spanish teacher Javier Orta is the sponsor of FHLA, and this will be his 2nd year sponsoring the organization. From last year’s numbers, the organization has already doubled in size! This year, the club will be more involved with our community.

“More involvement throughout our school and community, we have a lot planned for Hispanic Heritage Month!,” Orta said. “When you join FHLA, you can join a loving family and a group of teachers and peers who love you, a great community! We are a family in FHLA!”

FHLA allows students to learn a lot divergent of facts about different Spanish cultures and explore cultures they may have never heard of before, the whole reason FHLA is here is so you can be more educated about other cultures and if you don’t know anything about some don’t worry because you will learn more and more as the year goes on!

FHLA has so many amazing members such as junior Adalynn Martinez. She is a returning member and this is her second year with this amazing club,

“It feels amazing,” Martinez said. “I’m so excited to see how we’re going to grow! Expect big and better things this year!”

She believes the meetings are very beneficial because they are where they make almost every decision and give out information about anything they do or anywhere they go. When asked about the benefits she has gained, she said that companionship was a big one for her.

FHLA meets 2-3 times a month and will be having their next meeting on Friday, August 30 in the KHS Library at 7:15 AM. This meeting will be your last chance to join, so if you want the opportunity to be a part of this amazing community of people, make sure you show up.

We hope to see you there!
