Going to a new school can be nerve racking, especially when that new school is in a town that is nothing like where you come from. Starting completely over in high school isn’t for the weak. What’s life really like for a new student at Kilgore high school?
Walking up to Kilgore, the size can be quite intimidating. A large building with several long hallways and more stairwells than you can count, that’s not including our separate buildings as well. Despite the large size of Kilgore, once you learn your way around it’s quite easy to get to and from classes.
With 1,163 kids from grade 9-12 Kilgore High School has something for just about everyone. Interested in music? Kilgore has a band, choir and orchestra. If sports are more your thing we have football, volleyball and so much more. Whether you like making music, dancing or acting there’s something for you at Kilgore High School.
Killgore is ranked as a 4A in enrollment and ranked 1,030 top schools in Texas. 1,163 hard working students roam these halls, hundreds of smiles and laughter when you come in. On the first day of school being greeted by the band and smiling cheerleaders makes you feel welcomed walking in.
Now, of course being in a new school is stressful and confusing, especially when you’re starting over with people and maybe even classes, but our amazing councilors like Jennifer Quine and Jennifer Hattaway makes the experience much easier and enjoyable.
Being a new student is difficult, not knowing the school set up or any of the teachers makes it stressful. It’s a lot of change for a person, but the staff welcome everyone with open arms. Without our teachers and staff working hard every day and trying to better students, Kilgore wouldn’t be as good of a school as it is.
Welcome our new students, whether there are freshmen coming from middle school or an upperclassmen who’s new to the district. Show our newer students how amazing Kilgore can be. Help them find their place, talk to them, be a friend, not a stranger.
