Basketball team wraps up season

The Bulldogs have been headstrong all basketball season this year. Throughout, losses and injuries the team stayed strong, and tried their best every game. They came out with wins, as they worked harder and harder each practice and game. The Kilgore Bulldogs Basketball teams, freshman through varsity, went against: Pine Tree, Palestine, Chapel Hill, and Henderson.

There are so many more, but those are the most memorable games this season. The beginning of these games started out with the opposite team shooting basket after basket. However, the bulldogs went after them with hard work and teamwork that brought them back to the top.

The best part of being a part of a team is the family that you create. Friendship and brotherhood you learn and develop is remarkable. That is what a team is all about, learn your mistakes and fix them to come out on top the next time.

“My favorite part of being a part of the team is bonding with the players, they are like brothers to me,” Point guard Zander Short said.

Throughout the season, one of the memories throughout the season will be what inspired you to keep moving forward, never giving up on your dream. The shocking reality breaks through, no matter lose or win, it’s always hard to come out on top.

“Even when we were at our lowest, we still managed to get over the obstacles,”Clarence Ingramshared.

February 22, 2022 Kilgore Bulldogs went against Paris Wildcats for the State Basketball Championship. The Kilgore Varsity Basketball team lost by the score of 70-59. Throughout the loss, they are determined to work harder during the off season and next season, to overcome any other team that they go against.

“The learning process at the beginning of the season and learning how to win is important in the game of basketball,” Senior Forward Thomas Hattaway expressed.

We all look forward to watching each player grow into a better player, but will miss the players that are moving on in life as they graduate in May. This season has been a great example of the meaning of a family as a team. Kilgore Bulldogs will continue to flourish not just throughout the community, but the state. We hope to see our strong Bulldogs in the playoffs again next year.
