On Wednesday Sept. 13, the Robotics class had their class competition before the Boosting Engineering Science Technology (BEST) contest. The students will have six weeks to build robots from scratch.

“I love robotics and becoming a sort of a mechanic,” sophomore Shelby Woods said.

The BEST contest is open to many different fields, and students will compete for the BEST award.   

“We have been split up into groups to plan what to add on our robot,” Woods said.

In late October students will compete in Crossfire, a series of complicated tasks that robots must complete.

“I’d describe it as tense and highly competitive, but well spirited,” senior Tyler Lyon said. “The most fun part is the banter between the teams.”
