It’s officially Prom season! On April 26th, in just two weeks, our Kilgore High School will have their most anticipated event of the year, hosted at the Summit Club in Longview, Texas.
“It’s my very first time ever going to a formal dance,” Junior Alyssa Nelson said. “ I have been to homecoming, but I have heard it’s way more fun from the seniors this year.”
The theme for this year’s exciting dance is a masquerade ball, so students are encouraged to dress accordingly with masks along with their extravagant outfits. This is completely optional, though! There has been some concern regarding the mask aspect of this theme. What if someone spends forever on getting their face picture perfect and posting ready, only to cover it with a mask? Are they really going to want to hide that the whole night? Of course not! If you would still like to participate in this theme while still showing off your gorgeous makeup, I would advise not to ditch the theme entirely. There are many kinds of masks that include a stick or handle to hold on to; whenever you want to feel like a mysterious Cinderella, simply hold it up to your face, and once you decide against it, take it down.
“I am going on theme,” Junior Jennifer Crutchfield said “I have a mask and everything!”
You may be wondering, why should I really go to Prom? What about is different from any other school dance? Though Prom does not have to be a huge milestone of your highschool career if you do not want it to be, it is undeniably its own special experience for everyone. It is a night when you have an excuse to dress how you feel, and nothing is too much for a ball like this. It’s a night of beautiful and possibly silly memories that you get the chance to carry with you for the rest of your life. Even if you simply go once (just to say you got to go), is that not worth it?
“I’m excited to be going this year,” Senior Holly Dowell said.
Once again, Prom will be on April 26th at the Summit Club (3700 Judson Rd, Longview, TX), starting at 8:30pm and ending the party at 12am. So let’s see you get your dancing shoes and dancing heels on, and boogie on down. We hope to see you there!
