Soccer is here and players are ready for the season. The boys and girls teams have had success thus far, with Varsity Boys winning 2-0 at home against Henderson, and Varsity Girls winning 3-0 at home against Sabine.
“I think I like soccer because I’ve been playing it for a long time, so it’s become a habit, and I’ve just been enjoying it these past few years,” junior Valerie Castillo said. “And I feel like playing in high school just makes it so much fun.”
Each player has their own set of talents and abilities that makes them special. These individual talents combine together to make the perfect dream team.
“I play my own way, you know, having different techniques than everybody else,” junior Carlos Rosas said. “We have the other half of school left and we all are looking forward to things, especially soccer.”
After the Boys Varsity had a successful season last year, with them making it to the semifinals at State, the teams are wanting to one up their achievement from last year.
“I look forward to going to state,” junior Maria Barron said. “If we do this year, I look forward to making new memories. We have a new head coach this year and I think he’s gonna help us out this year.”
The next games for soccer is tonight, Feb 3 for Boys at Pine Tree, 5 PM for Varsity, 6:45 PM for JV. The Girls have a game tomorrow, Feb 4 at home against Pine Tree, 5 PM for Varsity, 6:45 for JV.
