Model U.N participants start out year with writing resolutions
Participants in Model U.N. are currently working on writing their initial resolutions, having positions mostly assigned already. This current state is afforder for by their solid start. On Tuesday September 12 the process of getting Model U.N. off the ground and running this year started with a meeting.
“We chose the countries we were going to represent and how the club was going to be run,” Lance Homeniuk said.
With guidelines in place and a sense of how meets and meet preparation will work, students were able to then get involved.
“We’ve already had half a dozen upperclassmen say they’re interested and several freshman who did Model U.N. in 8th grade,” Homeniuk said. “There’s a good number though that have even won awards.”
With an already growing feeling of anticipation from several students, Model U.N. looks like it will pan out to be a successful student organization.
“This is my first year to try Model U.N. and I’m very excited,” senior Ankit Chahal said. “The opportunity to try my hand at problem solving with a more global perspective is really cool. Plus it looks good on college applications.”
