Going for Goals: Boys, Girls Soccer Pursue & Prepare for Title
The varsity soccer girls are currently 6-0-1 in their district games. The only team they have tied was against Henderson. District play began Jan. 27 with a win of 2-0 against Carthage.
“I feel like we played very well and maintained possession most of the game, but there’s room for improvement. We did great as a team for the district opener game,” senior Lesly Herrera said.
The lady dogs are working hard to keep this success going all season and hope to make it to the playoffs and to the state tournament. From the looks of the season so far, they have the potential to go all the way.
“My main goal is to do better than how we started and do better than we did last year. Our team is back, and I’m ready to go further than we did last year,” senior Skylar Greenberg said.
The dynamic of the team has also been very important to them. The girls aren’t just a team, but a family. They have both learned and had amazing growth together. Because of this unity, they make an effort spending time with each other outside of the field.
“I think it’s when we start to realize that we need each other,it may be on the field or in the locker room. It always feels good to help somebody out,” senior Seleste Romero said.
The team plays Friday night March 10 against Tatum at 5 p.m. at home. Get out and support your Lady Dogs!
