The Sociology of Countries
Psychology/Sociology and Humanities I and II Tom Rhoads and Amye Tucker are hosting a nine-week long sociology project.
The Sociology classes co-teached by Psychology/Sociology and Humanities I and II Tom Rhoads and Amye Tucker are participating in a nine-week long assignment about sociological research on a country.
“With each group studying human interactions in separate countries, we felt it would give insight into the differences as well as the similarities of human behavior within different cultures,” Rhodes said. “Neither of us has ever assigned such a lengthy and extensive project so we are very excited to see the outcome!
According to Rhoads, students were placed into groups of two or three for maximum efficiency. All of the groups will have weekly check ups on Fridays to monitor their progress and to make sure the groups know they are on task. On Fridays, each group will be randomly selected to present a specific portion of their slides (i.e. food, culture, etc.).
“I am feeling great about the assignment,” senior Chloe Collinsworth said. “I like the imagery with the research process and all of the new information that I am learning about Russia.”
