UIL journalism team participates in meet

Congratulations to the KHS UIL Academic Journalism Team.

Starting Dec. 1 and through Dec. 3, they competed in the Central Texas Invitational UIL Meet.

The meet was virtual. Students wrote their contest papers here which were then uploaded to the UIL in Austin for judging. Judging was done Sunday, and KHS received an email Monday morning with the results. There were over 1,900 entries, and the competition was tough, so this is a great start to the KHS UIL Academic season.

The following students earned medals in 4A-3 Division:

  • Madison Donovan – 1st Place

Editorial Writing

  • Nicholas Foster – 9th Place

Feature Writing

  • Carly Mauldin – 1st Place
  • Kyleigh Lewis – 10th Place

Headline Writing

  • Madison Donovan – 1st Place
  • Eryka Hopper – 5th Place
  • Jayden Jones – 9th Place

News Writing

  • Lizett Garcia – 1st Place
  • Carly Mauldin – 6th Place
  • Carlos Ortiz – 10th Place
