Softball Season Starts Strong

After losing their season at the beginning of March last school year, the Kilgore High School softball teams have high hopes for this year. The team held tryouts January 15 and 16 for anyone who wanted to be on the team.

“My sister played and it made me want to play,” sophomore Kilynn Higginbotham said. “My dad also would play catch with me in the front yard and I started to love it!”

The team this year has people who have played many years, and even a few that it is their first year to play the game.

“I just started playing softball this year”, freshman Shayla Vasquez said.

With the season just beginning, the softball teams are looking forward to a great year.

“I personally think this season is going to go well,” senior Haylee Brown said. “We have a lot of talent and a good group of girls.”

The varsity team will play their first scrimmage on Saturday, January 30, in Sabine, playing two scrimmages, one against Sabine and one against Pine Tree.
