With a new school year, orchestra director Sherry Paetznick and orchestra students figured it was time for a new look in the orchestra room. They decided they wanted a new look in the two practice rooms, and over Oct. 8 and 9 when students were out for teacher work days, students came up to the school to paint.

Students who volunteered their time  included seniors Grace Vasquez, Cristina Rosas, Estrella Galvan, Mazy Martinez, Britney Castillo, and Cerenity Exline, and juniors Shanna Casayuran, Ashaw Bailey, and Tara Parson.

The practice rooms have not been painted since 1995, and Paetznick and the students thought now was the perfect time for the practice rooms to get a fresh coat of paint.

“Well it was a lot of work, and it was fun because I was working with the people I get along with,” senior Grace Vasquez said.

Along with painting the practice rooms, students came up with a new tradition for all orchestra students.

“Well it was a lot of work, and it was fun because I was working with the people I get along with. We started a new tradition, in when our graduating class would paint their handprint on the walls we painted,” Vasquez said. “They’ll also sign to be remembered that they were part of the orchestra family.
