Fantasy Football, and how to succeed
Well people it’s that time of year again. Fantasy Football season. One thing some people look forward to when the NFL season starts is Fantasy Football, where you draft a team of players and play for money. Some things have winnings up to millions of dollars, all off of playing these leagues. Nearly 60 million people now play fantasy sports, and of those 80% play fantasy football. I am one of those 60 million people.
In these leagues you can have up to 12 people/teams participate, usually for money. In my league that I play in with my dad we all put in $50 and the winner at the end of the season wins $400. That is a lot of money to just set a lineup and watch some football. I am going to teach you the best way possible to win in these leagues.
So when drafting your team you obviously want the best players available but sometimes it doesn’t work out the best. The worst pick you can have in my opinion is the 1st overall pick. It literally means you can get whatever player you want. That puts a lot of pressure on you to make the best pick for your team. Throughout the draft you want to pick the players you know are starting on their teams and who will put up the most points, some of those players that come to mind are Patrick Mahomes, Christian Mcaffrey, and Lamar Jackson. These players are guaranteed to get you at least 30 points every week.
Next thing you want to do is set your lineup and start looking at the waiver wire. The waiver wire is where you can pick up players that were not drafted. This is where the fun begins. Sometimes good players fall between the cracks and you are able to pick them up and put them into your lineup. These players are not the best but they are able to give you at least 10 points a week which can come up clutch in close matchups. Most of the players in the waiver wire are the rookies or players that are 2nd in their teams depth charts. Some of these players include Sterling Shepherd, Jonathan Taylor, and Tyler Boyd.
After reviewing the waiver wire and setting your lineup you are ready for the opening week. All you have to do now is make sure your players stay healthy or do not get released from their teams. For example I drafted Leonard Fournette and the next day he was released from the Jaguars which really hurt cause he is my best running back on my team. Now you are set for the season. During the season you may make trades to help make your team better. For me and my dad when one of us is eliminated from the playoffs we usually help each other so one of us can win the money instead of the other people winning all that money.
