Why people should say ‘thank you’
Each year with the arrival of fall comes the desire to be surrounded with friends and family. The obligation of showing people that they are thankful for them becomes a priority during the holidays. But showing this gratitude throughout the year seems to be unheard of.
Not one day should go by that loved ones aren’t given the appreciation that they deserve.
A great example of someone we should thank is our local police department for working as hard as they did to protect our schools and ensuring both students and parents that they would keep everyone safe, which they did. Sometimes, as a community, we fail to see the hard work that those around us apply to help each day run as smooth as possible. This holiday season try to find a way to say thank you to our police department. Something as small as saying ‘thank you’ could make the biggest difference to their day.
Little things, moments throughout the day, that have become nothing more than routine. This could be a parent waking their child for school. Not many would consider this an action to be thanked, but why not? If parents did not wake their children up, did not make breakfast, did not take their children to school, kids would be left to fend for themselves. It is a privilege to have someone look after you, seize every opportunity there is to show them how much they are appreciated.
The knowledge that sharing words of appreciation with a loved one can be more than enough to influence the display love and appreciation towards them.
Tell someone they are loved. Say thank you. Never let anyone feel unappreciated or uncared for. The phrase ‘thank you’ is defined as a polite expression used when acknowledging a gift, service, or compliment, but when it really counts, it means more.
