Blueprint Bootcamp

Game design class briefs students on programming

Sixth period Game Design students watch a inspiring video about Blueprint Programming.

For the 6th project of the year, the Game Design students will investigate blueprint programming to learn core components that will benefit them in later projects. The series of mini projects during the next two weeks will culminate in a proof of concept level that will display what they have learned.

“Jumping into Blueprint Programming can be pretty difficult but at the same time extremely fun,” junior Noah Odom said.

The students watched and discussed “Gameification” and what that means as game designers. They are required to have a minimum of three jump pads that launch the player to different platforms.  the character must have a minimum of four items attached to him/her. The character’s movement must be adjusted three ways. Finally you must have something in your level that displays a loop, a delay, and a do once command.

“My plans are to teach the students about Gameification and what the meaning behind it,” Game Design teacher Jason Bragg said.
