Art club begins unique project

Instead of selling food or candy bars, the Art Club is taking a more unique way to raise money for their club.

“I wanted a creative way to get the Art Club students involved in the community,” Art club sponsor, Holly Harper said. “I also wanted the Art Club students to show their artistic skills.”

The project is called ‘Doodles for a Dollar,’ and the idea is that any student ages 3 to 12 will submit a doodle along with a small donation. The students can submit a doodle or drawing of a mascot, imaginary character, or monster. Members of the Art Club will then choose a doodle submitted, and recreate the artwork in their own style.

“Having the chance to be apart of ‘Doodles for a Dollar’ is exhilarating because we can’t wait to finish our work and share to the kids our enhanced results of their doodles,” senior Stephanie Mota said. “As long as they end up happy that ends up being the bigger part of the experience.”

Students will have the chance to submit doodles until November 16th. Art club members will finish the recreated artworks no longer than January 19th.
