Robotics participates in BEST Competition
On Saturday Oct. 21, the Robotics class competed in the BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science & Technology ) and UIL robotics hub contest in Dallas-Fort Worth. The students had four weeks to prepare for the contest.
“Four weeks was plenty of time to prepare, but I was a little overwhelmed,” senior Tyler Lyon said.
The Robotics team placed 38th this year as opposed to placing 51st last year.
“Considering the malfunctions of our robot, I feel pretty good about how we placed,” freshman Justin Webb said.
The BEST competition was not solely competitive as the teams were supportive of each other.
“It was really entertaining,” sophomore Shelby Woods said. “All the schools were friendly and there were cheerleaders cheering all the robots on.”
This is just the beginning for the Robotics team; they still have the rest of the season to compete. Find out more about Robotics from Kathy Homeniuk in room 405.
