The marching band earned a first division rating at the Region 4 UIL Marching Contest on October 17.

“When our band director announced that we got a first division, I was so excited because we worked so hard for it,” senior Desirae Medford said.

The band began the road to contest during band camp back in July. They practiced their music and marching rigorously for four weeks before school officially started.

“Although we sacrifice time out of our summer for band camp, it is nice to know that all those hours didn’t go to waste,” senior Macy Armstrong said.

After receiving a second division at last year’s competition, it was proud moment for the band to take back their first division band title.

“It was a blow to the band when we received a second division rating last year,” senior Cruz Daniel said. “But that motivated us to work harder this year, and I couldn’t have been happier with the end result.”
