Q: What made you want to be a teacher?

A: I had a really amazing high school history teacher that showed me the importance of education. She really truly cared about us as students and showed us that she was there for us throughout even the most difficult times.

Q:Where did you go to school? What were you like as a student?

A: I went to Caddo Parish  Magnet High School in Shreveport, LA for high school and East Texas Baptist University for college. I procrastinated and barely made it through high school, but changed in college and worked really hard to graduate with honors.

Q: What’s your spirit animal?

A: Phoenix. I have had a lot of things go wrong, but somehow manage to come out on top after all of the bad.

Q: What was your favorite extracurricular activity you were involved in during high school?

A: I played softball. I absolutely loved it and wish I could still play.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I love to redo furniture, read, write, and spend time with my son and nephews.

Q: Why did you decide to come to Kilgore?

A: It is something that I prayed really hard about and had to ask for God’s guidance. I’m not originally from the area so I asked God to please lead me where He wanted me to be. From there, the doors opened and I ended up here. I’m extremely thankful that He opened the doors for me to be here. I have loved every second with my students and have the best team in my department.

Q: Who’s the most influential person in your life?

A: My son, Jonah. I work really hard to be able to provide for him. I try to be the kind of teacher that I want him to have.

Q: What’s your favorite part about teaching?

A: Being able to meet and build relationships with all of my students. They are all so amazing and make coming to work worth it.

Q: What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

A: Make coffee and pray for my students.

Q: Describe yourself in four words.

A: My 7th period said – funny, beautiful, intelligent, and hard working.
