Softball makes it to playoffs

The lady dogs have been working hard this season. The varsity team went to playoffs for the second year in a row and had more wins than losses this season. The season ended off strong with JV working hard and showing improvement from last year.

“The season ended very well, and I couldn’t have been blessed with a better group of girls to play my senior year with,” senior Hailee Lewis said. “We went to playoffs for the 2nd year in a row, and I think that shows a lot for the softball program.”

The season for JV players ended differently than they had expected because of their last game that got cancelled. The JV team had a diverse age group, from freshmen to juniors, and it helped them even more.

“As a whole this season has been great and we’ve all improved so much,” JV player Alexis Anderson said. “It’s really nice to see how everyone gets along and to see how we grow from each other.”

Both varsity and JV have helped each other practice to improve. During their practice times, the varsity likes to practice without the JV, but they are good base runners for the varsity. Since both teams work together sometimes, it helps them to be supportive of each other.

“Some parts of practice are together, but both teams are supportive and encouraging to the other,” Coach Cheyenne Kirkpatrick said.

Even though the season has ended, the girls are looking forward to another year with more improvement. The team is upset about the seniors leaving, but are ready for another year with a new team.

“We will miss our seniors, but we have a lot of strong talent returning next year,” Kirkpatrick said.
