Skills USA competition in Waco

Lesly, Amaro

February 7 through 9, Skills USA competitors traveled to Waco for their annual district competition.

The school took students from health science and the media classes and represented the CTE Department (Career & Technology).

Kilgore came back with the total of 29 medals and with several students moving on to the state competition in April.

Skills USA is a UIL organization. Students can go and compete against other schools in skills, ranging from health, culinary, to cosmetology.

Students are given opportunities and training to become successful and productive in the workforce.

“I think the purpose of Skills USA is to turn just a normal class into something you compete in but also to help advance your knowledge and skills,”sophomore Skyelar Howell said.

Another reason why taking CTE courses is good for the future of students.
