Reflector and Mirror staff visit KMS

Senior staff members, along with a few juniors, from both the Reflector and Mirror, visited Kilgore Middle School to speak on March 26 with current 8th graders about potentially becoming a part of either organization for their high school years.
“It was really exciting meeting the people that would eventually be the next faces of the newspaper or yearbook,” senior Ankit Chahal said. “Seeing genuine interest, in what we were talking about, from a good amount of the middle school kids was really encouraging.”
The time spent at KMS was much more than just trying to recruit students. The majority of the focus was placed on staff members sharing anecdotes and memories about their experiences with either organization and what it means to be a part of the journalism program.
“Being on staff is about so much more than the work we produce and we wanted to emphasize that,” senior Addison Phillips said. “What makes these organizations so special is getting to be a part of a family and something that’s bigger than yourself.”
