Senior Hi-Steppers prepare to give their big goodbye

The KHS Hi-Steppers have been around for years, every year one group leaves and a new set comes along. As this year’s seniors prepare to graduate, they reflect on their years as being part of the team.
Their 4 years as Hi-Steppers have allowed the seniors to establish a strong bond by performing together.
“I love sharing the field and stage with my best friends,” senior Kara McKinnon said.
After performing for 4 years, seniors Alexis Smith and Payton Day deemed dances from their freshmen year as their favorites.
“My favorite is a dance we performed to Rather Be in the Spring Show our my freshman year,” Payton said.
“A hip hop we performed at my very first pep rally freshman year is my favorite,” Alexis said.
The things the senior Hi-Steppers will miss the most are definitely the Friday Night Lights and spending time with each other, which they have grown to love.
Although she enjoys all the performances as a Hi-Stepper, McKinnon does claim she gets nervous before each performance.
“I talk with my best friend Rachel Clower because she helps calm my nerves,” Kara said.
Hi-Steppers hold themselves to be one big happy family and the seniors are reluctant their last year is coming towards an end.
“It is sad but I am ready for what’s ahead,” Alexis expressed.
The senior Hi-Steppers will take the stage one last time to perform in the Spring Show the following spring.
